Building of the drum

Musical instruments are more than worked material. To me they seem to be  a personality with its own character that allows me to play rhythms and music with them. For a couple of years I have been engaged in building drums of several types. The most impressing ones were those big earth-drums with their big spectrum of different sounds. In january 2005 I started my very special and personal project, a gigantic drum.

 Some tecnical facts:

• head material:                           vellum of a bull

Apart from the new handicraft-insights I won during the 5 months of building the drum I experienced that the instrument grew it´s own personality, an extaordinary own with it´s own will.
